Art Routes in Dubai: DIFC

Dubai isn’t just about skyscrapers and luxury—it’s a city that values tradition, culture, and art. To truly experience the city, I recommend setting aside time to explore its artistic side. Explore its historic neighborhoods and the DIFC district, visit museums and galleries, and see Dubai from a new perspective.

Here are some spots that will help you understand the contrasts of this vibrant city.

Explore the DIFC District

This dynamic area resembles New York, with its clusters of galleries, restaurants, and cultural events.

Don’t miss the outdoor sculpture exhibition ‘Whispers of the City: A Tapestry of Artworks,’ featuring 65 pieces by 40 artists from around the globe. This showcase highlights the vibrancy of urban life and cultural diversity. The Rarares Gallery, located in DIFC, showcases sculptures by four artists: Marina Beisel, Katya Yemelyanova, Evelyn Breider-Frank, and Talal Al-Tuhaes.

The exhibition aims to foster unconventional thinking, inspire fresh ideas, and expand creative boundaries, contributing to the UAE’s cultural scene on a global scale. The exhibition runs until April 2025, offering a fantastic opportunity to experience art right on the streets.

Indulge in Italian Delights
After immersing yourself in art, treat yourself to dessert and an affogato at the Italian restaurant Cipriani. This venue transports you to the ambiance of Little Italy with a touch of New York chic—an ideal stop for food lovers.

Visit the Tabari Art Space
Next, head to the Tabari Art Space to see the exhibition “Yellow Tropics” by Egyptian artist Adel El-Siwi. This rare showcase features his works for the first time in over a decade, ranging from archival pieces to new creations. The exhibition is open until January 15, 2025.

Discover BASTOK LESSEL Gallery
If you’re still up for more, visit the BASTOK LESSEL Gallery. Here, you’ll find meditative landscapes by Korean artist Chung Yong-Hwan and surreal compositions by French artist Damien Chavée. These exhibitions are also available until January 15, 2025.

End the Day at ALMA Lounge
Wrap up your evening in DIFC with a cocktail at the ALMA lounge. Its inspiring atmosphere, stylish interiors, light snacks, and refreshing aperitifs provide the perfect ending to a day full of cultural discoveries.
